Time for a new camera

Well, it looks like I’m going to be picking up a new camera this weekend. I’ve been using an Olympus Stylus 300 for the past few years, and it has served me well, but its time for an upgrade. My Uncle asked me to photograph his wedding in April, and I don’t think a 3.2 mp camera is going to cut it. Besides, I’m always looking for a reason to buy a new toy. I was thinking about getting a Nikon D70s, but at a price tag of around $1000 plus another $800 for a zoom lens, and another $200 for a flash, I just cant see myself spending that kind of money for a camera.

So I started looking for a camera that was cheaper, but still had some of the features that I wanted like: a good zoom, higher mp, and a good macro. Looks like the lucky winner is the Canon S2 IS with a 12x optical zoom, 5mp, and a 0cm super macro. I will be picking it up this weekend, so that my parents can use my Oly for a trip they are going to take, and it will also give me time to see if it will be able meet my needs for the wedding.

Whats next?

Ok, so I was looking around on the Internet and I found this: Unexpected Downside of Wind Power

“Next month, hundreds of those blades will spin to a stop, in what appears to be a wind-energy first: Facing legal threats from environmentalists, the operators of the Altamont wind farm have agreed to shut down half of their windmills for two months starting Nov. 1; in January, they will be restarted and the other half will be shut down for two months….A 2004 report by the California Energy Commission found that 880 to 1,300 raptors are killed at Altamont every year…”

So just when we think we have a good clean way to get power, without any type of pollution, these environmentalist tree huggers put a stop to it. It seems like no matter what we do, we just cant seem to make these people happy. Can someone name another way we can get power that will make these people happy? Solar power maybe? Next thing you know, they will say that they reflect to much light causing the atmosphere to heat up resulting in global warming. I’m I the only one that finds this ridiculous?
