Our good friends at Google Labs are always thinking. They have added Wii support to their Google Reader. The new features include Larger text, and Wiimote functionality. This is also a good time to remind you of my RSS feeds found in the sidebar, or at the bottom of each post.

Back in 2002 or so I had a ton of photos from my very first digital camera, everything from pets to different family events. Too bad for me I didn’t have any way to back it up, and I lost it all in a Hard Drive crash. I was really upset, and heart broken. I had lost all photos of our cat that had recently died, and everything else.

It was a Maxtor drive, and it was still under warranty, so I sent it in and they replaced it. Lucky me, I took more photos, and filled up the HDD with more memories, only to lose that drive to another HDD crash. It had died in under a year. I was upset all over again. I tried different recovery programs, but nothing seemed to work. I still have the HDD to this day, in case I find a way to recovery what was on it.

Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) recently agreed to reduce their Registrar Transaction Fee from $.25 to $.22. The best part is, this goes back to July 1 2006. You just saved $.03 - $.06 without even doing anything. Doesn’t that make you happy? Your domain registrar should credit you the amount you are due. If they don’t, you should contact them. I have three domains registered, so I saved $.18 for 2006 and 2007. I can go out any buy that candy I have been dreaming about for the past 2 years*sarcasm*. Now you know how to make money without even trying.

Just when you think you have seen it all, something like this comes along. This is just plain cool.

Haas CNC Racing… The NASCAR team, owned by Gene Haas, worked with Jacobs Engineering to develop a combination rolling road/wind tunnel that uses a steel belt to run the team’s vehicles up to 180 MPH, while at the same time, gaining readings from each individual wheel. Coupled with wind tunnel technology, the system can not only get the car’s wheels spinning, but can also thrust 2.85 million cubic feet of air over the vehicle every minute. - Autoblog

I have a few questions though. If you were going to spend all that money, why wouldn’t you spend a little more to build the thing in the ground? After all they are going for realism, and cars drive on the ground. I think the photo was taken while the giant treadmill wasn’t moving, because I don’t see any straps holding the car in place that you would usually see on a dyno.

If you don’t know, solid state hard drives, are drives that use flash based memory. This hopefully will stop the dreaded hard drive failure. HDDs are like helicopters, from the moment they are build they are trying to fall apart. After I myself have had 2 HDDs fail on me, and lost everything. I am more then ready for a change.

Asus just announced their plans to make five budget, solid state laptops this year priced from $199 to $549. Each machine will have a 7-inch display, and depending on the model it’ll have a flash drive ranging from 1GB to 40GB. The lappies are expected later this year - Gizmodo

A 7″ screen isn’t much, but at least we are getting these drives in the market. Right now an 8 gig solid state drive will cost you $305
