Remember why we celebrate this day. This day is a holiday remembering that Jesus was raised on the 3rd day. We celebrated that his death and new life have given us a new life.

I was reading “The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome.” over at HotAir.com but because I cant comment over there, I will comment here.

Reading that article and the links within, showed me some things that I hadn’t thought of before; and only goes to prove even more so that God is real. One of the links “Genesis: Relic Or Relevant?” really goes into the proof of the Bibles truth.

Written more than 3,000 years ago, Genesis 1 is an attempt to explain where creation came from. Its tone is remarkably dry and scientific for such an age. Competing theories of our origins from that time ranged wildly, from an earth resting on infinite stack of turtles to an earth that was a giant egg laid by a great cosmic bird, to an Olympian god hoisting it on his shoulders.

I had this crazy idea last night after visiting my favorite websites forums, and reading a thread about one of the members going through a hard time deciding if he should get surgery to help relieve some very bad pain he has been suffering through. After reading his post, and after a number of people said they would pray for him and his family; I thought it would be a good idea if the forum had a prayer request forum, that the members could go to whenever they needed.

So later that night I asked if prayer request forum could be added, and that’s when everything went wrong. It seems like 95% of the people were against it, without even giving it a second thought. I have seen a number of times where non-christian people going through hard times have asked for prayer, so I figured a lot of people could get good use out of it.

Of course some people mocked me, some said I was crazy, some said I was trying to impose my religion on them; but also some thanked me for making the effort, and thanked me for thinking so highly of the community. So in the end, after the 5 pages and counting of posts, I think it was well worth the shot.

Just remember what we are really celebrating, and why people all around the world celebrate it. The birth of Jesus Christ.

Every year, Christians have to figure out what they are going to do when halloween comes around. In the past we would leave the lights out at our house and ignore people that came to the door. Then maybe 5-6 years ago we decided would would go ahead and hand out candy; after all most of the people don’t really care what halloween means, they just do it for the candy. We also didn’t want to seem like we were mean.

Last year I wanted to hand out candy with a bible verse on it, as a way to spread the good word. Unfortunately I was working up in Truckee, and didn’t have access to a printer. It wouldn’t have mattered; the apartment I was staying in was on the second floor, and no one came to the door. That left me with two bags of snickers bars, all to myself.

This year I started thinking about doing it again, but this time I was going to use Bible Tracts. I remember these as a kid, and thought they would be fun for the kids to read. I did a Google search and found the publisher Chick Publications. I was shocked to see that they were only 15 cents per tract. I went ahead and ordered two different tracts; one relating to halloween, and one not. That way the kids would have more to read, and hopefully the parents would get involved too. I cant think of an easier way to spread Gods word. I found this kind of funny; after I received my order I realized Chick Publications is located in my city.

This is something that everyone can do, and I suggest that you give it a try, or something similar. Make sure to get your orders in soon, halloween is only a month away.
