You must be reading this because you still don’t have a Nintendo Wii. Is it that you cant find one anywhere, or you just don’t have the $$ yet? It doesn’t really matter though, because Wendy’s is going to be giving them away in the Frosty Float Your Way To A Wii Giveaway. It will cost you $1.99, the price of a 20oz Frosty Float, but you have a chance to win 1 of 800 Wii’s, 1 of 800 Wii games or 1 of 800 Wii points cards(2000 Pts). You can read more about it, and the official rules at FrostyFloat.com If you do not yet have a Wii, or don’t want one and you win you can contact me to send me the games, points cards, or even a system that I can give to my Uncle.

*Update* You do not need to spend $1.99 for a Frosty Float, you can enter for free at their website, but that didn’t stop me from buying 2 today.

Nintendo Wii as a DVR? Part 2

A few months back, I suggested that the Nintendo Wii could be used as a DVR . All it needs for hardware is a usb TV capture card, and a harddrive. It also needs some software, and a TV guide system. I have a little good news, rumors are that Nintendo is making a usb harddrive for the Wii. If this is true, then hardware wise we are halfway there. This is good news either way, but it also makes you wonder what Nintendo has in mind for the harddrive.

Now wouldn’t that be cool. I don’t think it would be hard for Nintendo to do either. Think of it; the Wii is already connected to the TV, It has a nice user interface, and a remote control. What else does it need? Well it needs a TV tuner, or some type of video input. A lot of people have cable boxes so a simple USB A/V in might be all that is necessary. It also needs somewhere to store the video files, but the Wii doesn’t have much of a hard drive. It does however have USB ports, so a user supplied usb hard drive would do the trick. The Wii is “always on”; and it does connect to the Internet, so a TV Guide system wouldn’t be hard for Nintendo to set up. So, all in all it seems relatively easy for Nintendo to setup. If Nintendo were to make this, I would most definitely buy it.

Only 20 days until the Nintendo Wii comes out. YAY!!! I will try to and get one as soon as possible, and I don’t think I will have much of a problem. Nintendo plans on shipping 6 million units, just for the US and Canada(?). I think the hard part will be trying to pick up a game. At least the Wii will ship with Wii Sports; so even if I cant get a game, I will still have something to play.
