Has Newark become a “sanctuary city” for illegal immigrants? That’s the term critics were using last week when one of suspects accused in the execution-style murder of three college students in Newark turned out to be an illegal immigrant from Peru.At the time of the killings, Jose Lachira Carranza, 28, was out on bail awaiting trial in two separate cases related to a bar fight and the alleged sexual assault of a 5-year-old girl.Newark authorities had not notified immigration officials that Carranza was in the country illegally following his arrests.Turns out, they never do. In New Jersey, local officials are not required to report undocumented immigrants to federal officials until after they are sentenced. via – nj.com
In the cases like this where sanctuary cities are breaking the law; cant we as citizens sue the City? If it were my child that was killed by an illegal, and the city knowingly allowed them to stay, I would do nothing less then that. They need to be held responsible for their lack of action. They are technically an accomplice to murder, they harbor fugitives, and I bet there are probably a lot more laws they are breaking. How do let them get away with this?
