>>Third: From what I see on the construction job >>sites, union workers are lazy, slow, and don’t >>care about the company they work for.

Did you blog this off your head or did you do any research? If you are going to write…why don’t you make the effort to write something of substance. That requires at least a little reading.

Have you looked up anything yet? Like Which “American” made cars are made in Mexico for cheap labor?
Toyota that is doing so well IS Union and guess where those cars are made? Canada and the U.S. (They just opened another plant in Canada because Canada has universal health care. So Toyota is controlling healthcare costs…and Canada gets the jobs.)
What is the problem with the big three? Look it up it’s not Unions. It’s being two steps behind in everything.

Why don’t you try to act a little more civil? Because you are on the Internet you lose all your manners?

All the things I wrote about the construction job site, are things I see first hand. These are people that work for other companies, or are people that cant find work in the union and come to us for work. Even though the union forbids these people to work for a non-union company, they come to work for us.

Looking at the UAW link I posted, you can see that only 2 Toyota vehicles are made by the UAW. Not all vehicles that are made in Canada are UAW made.

“The Toyota Corolla, for example, is made in the United States by UAW members, but the Canadian model is made in a nonunion plant and other models are imported from a third country.”

The few vehicles that are made in Mexico, are made there to cut down the costs, which brings back my point that union workers cost too much.

BTW I never said the unions are the ones to blame for the problems, I just offer an idea, as to what could be causing the problems.

Thanks for stopping by, come back again sometime.

You have incorrect information about Toyota. Toyota does not have a union in any of their US Plants. If it is possible then it is NUMMI, Inc which is the join venture with GM and Toyota where the Corolla is built and was a gift to help GM when they were failing.

The only one that is having an issue regarding the unions coming in is Georgetown,KY.(Personal Study and Business Week Articles)

Maybe, the UAW employees are lazy but other trades are not. Some of the laziness is from the X and Y Generation! They are lazy!(Information provided by Class documentation)

As for Mexico, its cheap due to Globalization and the cost of living in America is increasing. The USA, Germany and Japan are high cost of living countries. Mexico, Phillipines,Brazil,Poland, India and China are low income places so manufacxturing is cheaper. (Info provided by Business Strategy Book)

Thank you for visiting.

They are not part of the union, but they do have a few cars made by UAW workers. That was the point I was making because Dennis was suggesting that all Toyota were union made. That was not true.

Yes gen X and Y are lazy, but they do not make up the most of any union. Now, I know most people are not lazy, but the union does allow this.

Think about this. Just the Union dues alone cost the companies millions of dollars a year.
